Unable to resolve Azure database for mysql name from Data Factory

It seems like you are facing a connectivity issue while creating a linked service from Azure Data Factory to Azure Database for MySQL. The error message "The remote name could not be resolved" indicates that the DNS resolution failed for the MySQL server name.

First thing to check:

• An existing Azure database for MySQL Single server or MySQL Flexible Server with public access or private endpoint.
• Enable Allow public access from any Azure service within Azure to this server in networking page of the MySQL server . This will allow you to use Data factory studio.

You can add your Azure Data Factory to the same virtual network as your Azure Database for MySQL or peer the virtual network that your Azure Data Factory is in with the virtual network that your Azure Database for MySQL is in.

Another solution is: if ADF is not in the same Vnet then create a managed endpoint. It establishes a private connection between ADF and Azure Database for MySQL.

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately we are still experiencing issues.

To provide some more details, the MySQL resource we are trying to connect our data fabric to is of type "Azure Database for MySQL flexible server".

Its networking configuration screen does not show the option to "Allow public access from any Azure service within Azure to this server". The only information I can see on the networking screen is the Virtual Network and subnet on which the resource is defined. I also see the following information with regards to the subnet:

It also shows that the resource is on private DNS Zone.

I tried to create a new DataFabric resource, specifying a Managed Virtual Network and a Private Endpoint. The configuration menu options do show the Virtual Network and subnet which are listed on the MySQL resource, but when I select them the errors: "The selected subnet <subnetname> has delegation and can not be used." and "The selected subnet <subnetname> has delegation and can not be used with a private endpoint.". So I did not complete the creation of this new DataFabric.

Finally, I tried to create a private endpoint from my previously existing DataFabric, but although the request seems to be created successfully, it never appears as ready to be approved, and the following errors appear on the activity log of the MySQL resource (I guess because of the fact that it is using a delegated subnet):

I have tried looking for specific documentation about the error but without much luck. Any further input would be much appreciated.

@Ignacio Sales - I agree that this issue looks strange and I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. If you have a support plan could you please file a support ticket for deeper investigation and do share the SR# with us?
