ConfigMgr Task Sequence Monitor

ConfigMgr Task Sequence Monitor is a GUI application that makes use of the task sequence execution data in the ConfigMgr database to review or monitor ConfigMgr task sequences.  It is particularly useful for monitoring OS deployment task sequences step by step in near real-time.

    • My company utilizes MDT only due to cost. Can this be modified to simply pull data from the MDT Monitor without the SQL/SCCM options?

    • Thanks for this amazing tool
I tried to give permissions on SQL Server DB for support teams.
I added their group in Security\Logins and give it "db_datareader" rights.

They can connect to the database but they can't see TS.
The only way for them to see TS was to give them sysadmin rights that i don't want to do.

Do you have any advice for me ?

      Regards
    • I cannot replicate the issue, but I assume it must be SQL permissions. Check on the database that the 'public' database role has select permission to All views, all columns, SMSDATA for example.
    • Thanks for your answer, i will try on my database
    • Thank you, Trevor - that solved my issue.
  • It works on one TS, but not on 2nd or 3rd

    • I created more TS for our environment, The TS Monitor works like charm on 1st TS, but not on 2nd or 3rd or 4th TS. Any specific reason?

I have tried to reinstall the app, SCCM is 1810, App was run in both non and Admin mode.

      Thanks.

    • Nice little app! I am trying to get it working but for now it's not :(

A run it as sql admin user on a client computer.
      servername.fqdn\db
      databasename

We use SCCM and installed MDT but never used it.
    • Ok, nevermind. It's working :D

    • Hi Trevor,

Love the monitor and use it frequently, but i'm not allowed to run it in production because the source code is not available. Any chance you can post it on GitHub?

      Kind regards, Marco

  • Start parameters?
    2 Posts | Last post October 12, 2018
    • Hi,
Would be nice if I could start the application from cmd with some parameters.
      Ex:
ConfigMgr_TS_Monitor.exe -TS "Task sequence name" -Hostname "Comutername"

      Would that be possible?

      Thanks for a grate tool!
    • Maybe even parameters for Server/DB settings if there isn't a way to set that for everyone in a settings-file or something.
  • VirusTotal Flagging

    • Hey Trevor - I've used this application in my lab, and it's great. There are a series of flags that are coming up, when the application is evaluated by VirusTotal, and unfortunately these prevent me from being able to run this app in my production environment. (See: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/a21713eb0eed0f06c9025baf69b18cecbd53cd81b94982948b800a0bbf942fff/analysis/)

I'm not sure what is triggering some of these, as the application is completely above board. If the code isn't signed, can it be? A lot of the forums that I've seen state that adding a signature to the code can save against false positives.

Really hoping this can be remedied, because this tool would be super helpful in prod.
