Here it is, a NEW Warranty Tool for Dell Computers.  This extension works specifically with the Dell Warranty V4 API.  To use this you must obtain a production API key from Dell (see below).

    • I have never installed this Dell warranty tool before on my SCCM Console. Can you guide me on how to install it?

If I try to install from Mike's exe download the API lookup fails and the install fails.

If I extract the files and modify the PS1 file (assuming install.ps1) with your code from (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/078788d6-9f82-4800-95e7-a2ecbf302efb/dell-warranty-for-sccm-in-bulk?forum=ConfigMgrCBGeneral) the install also fails.

I do have both Dell API keys v4 and v5.
I would appreciate any help on getting this installed.

      Thank you
      Dave
  • Here are some changes that fix your script if you want to copy and use

    • Based on https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/078788d6-9f82-4800-95e7-a2ecbf302efb/dell-warranty-for-sccm-in-bulk?forum=ConfigMgrCBGeneral and https://www.reddit.com/r/PowerShell/comments/ctlttk/dell_warranty_query_script_using_brand_new_api/ I came up with the following:

      #====================================================================================================================\
      # PURPOSE:
      # Perform bulk lookups against the Dell v5 API and add this data to the SCCM database.
      #
      # REQUIREMENTS:
      # Powershell 4.0 or higher, SQLPS Powershell Module
      #
      # NOTE:
      # Lookups include up to 100 Dell Service Tags each; and there is a 2-second pause between each lookup to avoid
      # exceeding API limitations.
      # This version is based on the one for V4 with changed to work with V5
      #====================================================================================================================/

      #region CONFIG

          $CMSiteCode = "Site Code "
          $CMServerFQDN = "server Name"
          $DellAPIKey

As others have pointed out, the Extension no longer works. Will you be updating the script?

      Thanks!
  • API Key not working
    2 Posts | Last post October 09, 2019
    • I am getting the same error as screwylui.

an error was encountered connecting to the dell warranty api service. the remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
The provided Dell API Key may be invalid, please verity and try again.

Has anyone resolved this issue when attempting the install?
      Thanks.
    • I guess this is caused by Dell now using a new method for the API keys, which will be enforced for al by the end of the year. Instead of using v4 keys, V5 keys are now provided and require oAuth.
I have a script that works now, but it has to be ran from powershell and I'd prefer it to be ran from SCCM as an extension like this. Hopefully this utility will be updated to use OAuth.

    • We have approx 14,000 assets on our domain that we are trying to gather the warranty info. I have signed up and logged into the Techdirect account with Dell and made a few phone calls to the Dell support line(s) and no one there seems to know what a Dell Warranty API key is or how to obtain. Am I missing a step?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration
    • To begin with the API on-boarding process to obtain WARRANTY API key, kindly update the API form available in Dell TechDirect portal https://techdirect.dell.com/portal.30/Login.aspx. For any assistance required during the registration process, you may like to reach out Dell TechDirect Support team - Dell_TechDirect@Dell.com

    • Karel, if I can get the warranty info extracted (waiting for Dell to respond about API key)I plan on creating a custom report myself. When I get it done I will reply with how I did it.
