  • Radius limitation
    1 Posts | Last post June 08, 2017
    • Going back to DBgn's post, I'm seeing conflicting information on this. I see random posts where there is a very high limit and that it may match the IAS limit.

This doc is the only tech reference that I can find that claims the 50 RADIUS limit is in 2012R2 standard.

The document here doesn't show a 50 limit on anything for the Standard edition:

  • Server Standard vs Datacenter
    2 Posts | Last post March 04, 2017
    • This document states that the maximum number of RADIUS clients for server standard edition is 50 while on server 2012 standard in a lab environment we are able to add 52 without issue.

I am asking for a Microsoft representative to confirm which is the case and what the implication would be if adding 100 clients to a Server Standard License.

The solution to be implemented allows us to pool APs using an internal proxy reducing the count from 100 to 1. Is it recommended to go this route?

      Thank you
    • Hi there -

The documentation is accurate. You might be able to add more than 50 RADIUS clients, but in a production environment the server will only process connection requests for the first 50.

      Thanks -
