PowerShell Script to Allow Changing of UPN Between Federated Domains

This script helps resolve the issue of changing the UPN on an account between two federated domains. It uses the immutableID provided in the synchronization error report to change the user's UPN to the tenant default suffix.

Firstly, thanks for sharing this script! I ran the script with immutable ID, it changes the Azure Directory Object UPN to a temp ID and then I did a delta sync after which UPN got changed as expected. Post changing the UPN the alias did not change according to UPN, usually Alias should be the same as UPN but in this is case it remains as "Temp_UserName". I have also cross checked our on-prem exchange and active directory, this objects alias seems to show correct alias. Please assist me to change Alias.
    • I tried changing the alias from ADSEDIT for that particular recipient and then did a DirSync to sync the new alias name to exchange online, then again i repeated the same step with the actually Alias Name which i wanted to be in Exchange online.

    • Have you been able to automate this process based on data provided by FIM or AADSync?
