SCOM NPS 2008-2016 Management Pack

This is an update to Bas Sterkenburg's Network Policy Server Management Pack.I only modified the discovery so it would work on Windows 2016 as well as the already supported Windows 2008 and 2012, but didn't add any rule or monitor.

    • Hi,

      Just a heads-up that as it stands the XML provided will not import into SCOM.

      This is because there are two knowledge articles which reference discoveries which no longer exist.

      You can get it to install by removing these lines:

              <KnowledgeArticle ElementID="Microsoft.NetworkPolicyServer.NPSServers2012.Discovery" Visible="true">
                <MamlContent>
                  <maml:section xmlns:maml="http://schemas.microsoft.com/maml/2004/10">
                    <maml:title>Summary</maml:title>
                    <maml:para>This discovery checks for existence of registry key “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IAS” on Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 operating systems to determine if NPS role is installed or not.</maml:para>
                  </maml:section>
                </MamlContent>
              </KnowledgeArticle>

      And then edit the line that references ElementID Microsoft.NetworkPolicyServer.NPSServers2008.Discovery to Microsoft.NetworkPolicyServer.NPSServers.Discovery. For the sake of tidyness you might also want to update the <maml:para> so that it explains that the discovery covers all versions of Windows Server from 2008 through to 2016.

      Pete

    • Sorry, I don't know how I could miss that, especially since I was pretty certain I simply uploaded the MP I was using in my own environment... Whatever, it's now fixed.
