  • No ticks in SamAccountName??
    2 Posts | Last post March 20, 2016
    • Hello! nice script, thanks!

About Format of SamAccountName. In my setup, the DisplayName is for example "Juan Ramón", then SamAccountName is "juan.ramón" (%firstname(lower)%.%lastname(lower)%). How can i get this format but without ticks?? (juan.ramon)

      Thanks again!!
    • Hi Bichoman,
You can use the (replace) function to replace the letters to remove the ticks. Go to Options > Custom Macro Mappings. This will allow you to map tick characters.

Your macro for SamAccountName will be %firstname(lower)(replace)%.%lastname(lower)(replace)%

    • First of all, very nice script. Tested and works fine. Tested to duplicate another user which has the same samaccountname and it does not overwrite the existing account which is good. had to look into the logs to see what is actually happening. Would be nice if it says completed but account existed or something like that.
Would be even nicer if it can provide another 2 or 3 samaccountname choices.
Still figuring how to create multiple users accounts.

      Thanks
    • Hi Classnetdd,
You can use the SamAccountName lookup feature to check for duplicate accounts. You will see the search icon next to the SamAccountName textbox.
  • Is this tool still supported?

    • Recently purchased a license key, but did not receive any confirmation or key, just the PayPal receipt. Phone number on Zohno Inc.'s Pinpoint page also goes straight to VM.
    • Hi Zero,
Is this issue resolved? please reach out to us directly via support link on zohno's website.

    • Does anybody know how to create multiple users using Z hire application?
    • Hi LNK94,
You can use the Bulk creation mode that will allow you to take CSV or TSV as an input to create multiple users. Please see the admin guide for more info.
  • Exchange 2013 Doesnt see Databases

    • Z-Hire sees the Exchange server no probs, select and shows in the field. Click on any other fields and they are blank, nothing to select. Manually enter the Mailbox DB and get an error when attempting the mailbox creation. "Could not load file or assembly 'System.Management.Automation,Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral........ or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified
    • Had the same message and googling get me to this page:
      http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27515303/could-not-load-file-or-assembly-system-management-automation-version-3-0-0-0
Download windows management framework 4.0 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40855 as per the website recommendations and works fine for me.
  • Office 365 Hybrid mode ( for organizations running Office 365 in Hybrid mode)
    1 Posts | Last post September 07, 2015
    • Hi,

The tool works great as far as i've been able to set it up. It creates the userobject in active directory with all the pre-set attributes just as i want it. perfect!

However, im not sure how to set up the creation of a mailbox for the user.
We are using Exchange 2013 on-premise and Office365 in a hybrid configuration. (without azure ad)

When i create a user mailbox manually i create the object in exchange 2013 as a "Office 365 Mailbox" This is neccessary since there is no writeback from office365, as i understand it.

so i guess my question is; How do i set up Z-Hire to create a Remote mailbox from exchange 2013?

      Thanks for a great product!
  • Initials not working...
    2 Posts | Last post July 27, 2015
    • First, super great product, first day working through things and found a problem.

I'm trying to add the middle initial to the username format macro for use in samaccountname, display name, UPN, CN, and email...and it does not seem to recognize (Middle Initials => %initials%) like is shown when you press the '?'. Also of note is when you go to the '...' on the field, and then Advanced, the full list macro editor does not seem to list initials, which is maybe the source of the problem.

      Thanks!

PS - Also, On the Lync Environment Config tab, when I click on '...' for both Conferencing Policy and External Access Policy, the application crashes. All other fields work properly.
    • Is the initials variable working for you in version 5.2 ? Please send me your logs and I can help you troubleshoot further.

    • Can you add support for Azure ADSync? Or is it already in the works?
    • Hi Zero,
We just released a newer version that supports the latest version of Azure Active Directory connect tool.
  • Can I use custom variables on the sam and upn?

    • I need to use first initial and first 5 of last name
    • doesn't seem to recognize .substring(0,1) I think i remember older versions recognizing titlecase and substrings
    • HI adownding,
For example, if you want to set SamAccountName to use first initial and first 5 letter lastname, use below format.

      %firstname[1](lower)%%lastname[5](lower)%
  • Crashing Constantly on Windows Server 2012 R2
    2 Posts | Last post May 07, 2015
    • We run this on a server administration box over remote desktop. It's copied to the root "C:\Zohno Tools" folder and run from desktop shortcuts in C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop.

Users logging onto the box are either Domain/Enterprise Admins, or have full permission to read/write to the folder.

This application crashes constantly. If you select the wrong dropdown, or look for a lync server, or save a template at the wrong time.

Can you guys spend some time and work on coding error handling correctly so the app doesn't just crash in the middle of work?

For a product you are asking hundreds for and interfaces directly with Active Directory at a high access level, I think it should be expected that this application would be rock solid. It is not.

Let me know when you fix these issues please or what I can do to make this app run stable.
    • Hi Tagwolf,
Are you running version 5.3 beta or version 5.2 ? Please reach out to us directly so we can help you further.
