    • The same as with Lync. I can select the server but not the database.
In both cases, Exchange and Lync are in parent domain and users in child domains.

    • Hi Red,
Please try running the app on same domain as your Lync and Exchange servers. I assume this is a resource forest and you have Active Directory trust relationship. Try using the "run as" feature if you are running z-hire from users child domain.

  • What about copy User information to a Resource Forest

    • Hi,

First of all, great tool. Love it!

But what about resource forest Offline Account creation. Can the tool be used to create a user account in a "User Forest" and "resource Forest" and copy over the attribute information? Now we use FIM for this.

      please let me know.

      regards,
      Johan

    • Hi Johan,
Do you have trust relationship between these two AD forest ? if you do, you can simply use the runas feature to copy attributes to a template, then create the user using this template.

  • Permissions on Home Folder Path

    • Hello,

first of all, the Tool will make my work pretty easy. Love to buy it! But til now, we are testing and I found something that dont work right in our case.

I set the Home Folder Path to

      \\Servername\Share\%username%
      Modify Rights or Fullaccess

The Tool create the Folder, but does not set the Userrights on this Folder. I try to autodiscover the DC and set it manual.
I have to say, our DCs and the Fileserver are in two different but trusted Domains.
Otherwise he would not create the Folder right away.

      What can I do?

      Greetings
      Marco
    • I got 2 DCs in my Domain. One VMware 2008R2 DC and one pysical Server.

After setting z-hire to the pysical machine the userright settings works!

My idea is, if u got more then one DC on the network and create a new userobject and the very same moment put user rights of a user to a home folder. the server that holds this folder HAVE to ask THE SAME DC that create the user in that moment. otherwise the other DCs on the network will not know the new userobject cause they dont replicate that fast.
    • Awesome! It looks like you found the answer! As you said "he server that holds this folder HAVE to ask THE SAME DC that create the user in that moment"
    • I have the same issue with the User Profile Path but just one domain and 2 DC's. IMHO it is not necessary to create the user’s profile folder, it will be created at the users first logon. Also Windows from 7 on automatically creates a %username%.V2 profile folder so the one created with zhire will not be used. In fact there will be two folders for a user created with Zhire… %username% and %username%.V2…

  • Customize user information fields

    • When provisioning users in our AD, we need to populate the pager and home phone fields with information. Will an upcoming release have the ability to add/remove fields from the User Information section??
    • I apologize for lack of response, we rarely check our Technet site.

To answer your question, yes we are planning to add rest of AD attributes we are missing. We are working on our next version which will include GUI/field customizations. Z-Hire and Z-Term will allow users to hide UI fields you do not use. This way, you will have the ability to show/hide AD attributes depending on your organization. This prevents clutter.

For now, you can use the custom script feature to set the pager and home phone fields. This is actually very simple, we can help you write a script if you like.

      Thanks

    • Hi

Please describe the type of license in the description of the tool. I firtsly thought it's totally for free.

The tool itself is great but somehow unflexible. I'd like to hide some fields and preconfigure some other fields in the template.
    • Hi Andi,
We are working on our next version which will include GUI/field customizations. Z-Hire and Z-Term will allow users to hide UI fields you do not use. With the current version, you should able to preconfigure the fields using templates. Is that not the case? let me know.
