An updated version for the Visual reports in Project Professional

The outdated Excel reports that come with Project Professional (versions 2007, 2010, 2013, and Project Pro for Office 365) are revisited by me in a blog post on The Project Corner. For a complete description and information on how to install the files on your machine please visit

  • Error message:Microsoft project: This operation requires you that you have excel 2003 or later installed on your computer

    • I have Excel 2016 and MS project 2013. While running a visual report in MS Project, I am getting an error message that says "This operations requires that you have Excel 2003 or later installed on your computer". Thus I can not open Excel through MS Project.
I tried to use your updated templates, but the error message keeps returning.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

      Kind regards

    • Hello Louise,

This probably is due to the way the applications are destributed in your organization. I have seen this in situations where a citrix application distribution is done. Instead of creating the Excel report from the application MS Project, try and create a "Save data". And use that file in the Excel reports.

      Hope this helps,
      Erik
