    • I'm using the Package Accelerator for Project Professional 2010 and at the create package stage it gives me "432 files missing from media and ingredients" and wants me to provide the missing media. It does this when I do it from a source disk or a extracted .iso. I've used the Office Deployment Toolkit without error and my media was downloaded through our Volume License web portal. Any ideas why it says I'm missing media?
    • Hello, Noodlesedwe. You are posting this in the Q&A for the Office Professional 2010 Package Accelerator. Did you try to use the Office Professional 2010 Package Accelerator to create your App-V package for Project Professional 2010, or did you accidentally post your question in the wrong place?

Project Professional 2010 has its own Package Accelerator, available here in the Gallery. Please let me know if this helps, otherwise we'll keep looking for a cause. Thanks!
    • I am using the package accelerator for Project 2010 and my information is correct. I just posted to the wrong forum. Should I post this to the other forum?
    • Hi, Noodlesedwe. I just looked on the Volume License download center and saw that there are two downloads for Project 2010, RTM and integrated SP1. Do you know which one you are using? The Project 2010 Package Accelerator readme.txt mentions that the source media should be Project 2010 RTM.
    • Thank you for your reply. I believe I am using the integrated SP1.
    • Our Volume License download center has a version of Project with integrated SP1 and one without. I get the exact same results with both versions.
  • got the error when I use this package

    • the error is: miss 6 file in my setup files folder. I was download the installation file from MSDN web site. the name is "en_office_professional_plus_2010_x86_515486.exe".
could you please tell me, which installation disc are you used for this accelerator package?
    • The Package Accelerator (as well as the Office Deployment Toolkit) works with the Volume License verson of Office Professional Plus 2010.

    • I have the same question as AKLEIN. After using the Package Accelerator can you run Windows update to update the package or do you just have to replace it?
    • Hello, Tim,

To update an Office 2010 package, download the updates you’d like to apply and copy them to your Sequencer virtual machine. Open the package in the App-V Sequencer, select Modify an Existing Virtual Application Package, and select your existing Office 2010 package. Perform a custom installation, and run the patches you wish to install. If you use streaming, be sure to run any applications you’d like to include in your Primary Feature Block. You can then save your newly updated package.
    • Well if there is five updates don't you have to do them each individually then. Why not allow windows update to update the package. It does it when the package is created.
    • For those who don't follow the App-V Team Blog, we recently posted an article covering the Office 2010 update process. Check it out here:

    • Ah, thanks for the link! That helps!

    • This is one of the major confusing parts is Step 8 "After repair completes, save the package and restore the Sequencer to the original image."

Additionally, is the Accelerator set for a KMS Environment, does a repair reset that Key?

      Thanks
    • Hi, "Chicks Dig Dungeon Masters" (good to know, BTW!). Repair doesn't reset the key. The steps after saving the package let you configure the package's Primary Feature Block, which optimizes the package for streaming.

When you execute the applications during this phase, make sure the Microsoft Office Deployment Kit for App-V is configured on the Sequencer.

    • "8.	After repair completes, save the package and restore the Sequencer to the original image."

Does this mean copy the package off the machine and then revert the VM snapshot and copy the package back? When I do this the programs don't work?

Also is there any reason why we need to close the package after upgrade and reopen it, this creates a complex Appv package and we start having to rely on versioning, which increases file size and slows down AppV I guess?

  • Installation of Office Deployment Toolkit fails
    2 Posts | Last post April 27, 2011
    • When I try to install the Office Deployment Toolkit using the commandline from the accelerator readme installation fails silently:

      msiexec /i offvirt.msi ADDDEFAULT=Click2runOneNoteProxy,Click2runOutlookProxies,Click2runWDSProxy,Click2runOWSSuppProxies PACKAGEGUID={F453A898-EFDC-40E2-8C64-C2FD7AA4D4E9} PACKAGEVERSION=14.0.4763.1000 OUTLOOKNAME="Microsoft Outlook 2010" ONENOTENAME="Microsoft OneNote 2010" MAPISERVER="Microsoft Virtual Office Simple Mapi Proxy Server" VIRTUALSEARCHHOST=" Search MAPI Protocol Handler Host" MLCFG32CPL="Virtual Mail Control Panel Applet" OWSSUPPServer="Microsoft SharePoint Client Support Manager" PROPLUS=1 VISIOPRO=1 PROJECTPRO=1 SPD=1

When installing offvirt.msi without parameters the installation succeeds

Is this the right commandline to use? Why not include the commandline in the readme instead of partly referring to the KB article.

      /DK
    • Looks like splitting the commandline in two separate ones works:

      msiexec /i offvirt.msi PROPLUS=1 VISIOPRO=1 PROJECTPRO=1 SPD=1
      +
msiexec /i offvirt.msi ADDDEFAULT=Click2runOneNoteProxy,Click2runOutlookProxies,Click2runWDSProxy,Click2runOWSSuppProxies PACKAGEGUID={F453A898-EFDC-40E2-8C64-C2FD7AA4D4E9} PACKAGEVERSION=14.0.4763.1000 OUTLOOKNAME="Microsoft Outlook 2010" ONENOTENAME="Microsoft OneNote 2010" MAPISERVER="Microsoft Virtual Office Simple Mapi Proxy Server" VIRTUALSEARCHHOST=" Search MAPI Protocol Handler Host" MLCFG32CPL="Virtual Mail Control Panel Applet" OWSSUPPServer="Microsoft SharePoint Client Support Manager"

    • I would like to sequence Access and provide as an separate application using App-V. Would this be possible and would I still need the Office Prerequisites for App-V with Office already installed in the base? Thanks

    • Hi, RadManB,

Apparently the Gallery doesn’t let you use the ampersand character in an answer. :)

To keep the Q and A associated with individual Package Accelerators on-topic, please address your question to the App-V General Sequencing Forum. The forum URL is http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/appvgeneralsequencing/threads.

  • Run the Office 2010 Repair function question
    5 Posts | Last post April 12, 2011
    • It is not very clear from the instructions on how to get to running the Repair function. If I start Windows Explorer outside the sequencer and run Office Setup.exe, I won't have the repair option, as Office is not actually installed on the machine.

      What am I missing?
    • Hi, Tamas. When you get to the Configure Software screen in the App-V Sequencer, the repair option will be available locally.
    • Thanks for the response but it doesn't make it any clearer why I can't see the repair option. Do I need to have Office installed locally first to be able to use the package accelerator?
    • Agree with TAMAS , don't found the repair option too
    • It seems that I created my own problems when I slightly deviated from the prerequisites by using the 64 bit platform for the sequencing. I didn't have the issue on the 32 bit OS, so please ignore my original question. Thanks again!
