  • new-dpmrecoverypoint for hyperV

    • Hello,

I try to make dpm recoverypoints (for hyper-V machine) with your script.
but that doesn't seem to work as powershell 3 tells me

New-DPMRecoveryPoint : Cannot bind parameter 'Datasource'. Cannot convert the
      "Microsoft.Internal.EnterpriseStorage.Dls.UI.ObjectModel.HyperVDS.HyperVDatasource" value of type
      "Microsoft.Internal.EnterpriseStorage.Dls.UI.ObjectModel.HyperVDS.HyperVDatasource" to type
      "Microsoft.Internal.EnterpriseStorage.Dls.UI.ObjectModel.OMCommon.Datasource".

      I used

$j = New-DPMRecoveryPoint -DataSource $dds -Disk -BackupType ExpressFull -ProtectionType ShortTerm

where $dds is the first [0] hyperV machine of the first [0] protectiongroup.
When I list $dds it shows me the correct machine.

Is there a way to make recoverypoints for hyperV Machines with powershell 3 ?

    • The sample code is based on Powershell but it is incorrectly categorized under VBScript.

In addition, the DPM 2010 RTM Help file for New-RecoveryPoint has missing info for:

          -ProtectionType
              Indicates the type of protection.

              Required? true
              Position? named
              Default value
              Accept pipeline input? false
              Accept wildcard characters? false
