Hyper-V Reporting Script (Powershell & HTML)

It can be difficult to monitor and assess resources in large Hyper-V environments. This Powershell based script helps you to understand virtualization inventory, capacity and general resource availability in your Standalone or Clustered Hyper-V Environment.

    • Hello,

I think that your script don't care about shared VHD.

On my cluster I've 4 Vm that shared 10 VHD (This VHD can growth to 2.5 Tb). The dashboard report that the CSV here are the shared VHD can get over 10 TB. Sou I think that the script accumulate the information to this shared VHD 4 times.

      Can you check please?

  • Problem, checkpoint in 2016 hyper-v
    1 Posts | Last post April 20, 2017
    • If you make a checkpoint in 2016, the script gives an error.
      The solution: in the line

      Until (($parentPath -eq $null)
      Replace
      Until (($parentPath -eq $null) -or ($parentPath -eq ""))

      Because:$parentPath = $vmDiffDisk.ParentPath --- Returns not $null but ""

  • "Does not have a virtual disk" issue
    1 Posts | Last post March 30, 2017
    • Hello Serhat,

the script is awesome! Thank you for writing it.
I have the following issue: 3x 2012 R2 and 2x 2012 hosts. When I run the script from one of the 2012 R2 servers as a domain admin, polling all 5 hosts into one report, the two 2012 servers show "Does not have a virtual disk" on all of the VMs.

      What do I do?
  • Is there a way to filter the output by domains?

    • Serhat, thank you for the script. It has been a great help for me.

In our environment, we have vms that are connected to 3 different domains. One for production, qa, and management. Is there a way to edit the script to filter the output so we can see the resources for vms connected to a specific domain?

  • Enable server 2016 support

    • I had to add this
      Import-Module Hyper-V -RequiredVersion 1.1
(right before the prerequisites check section and after the variables region)
to get it running on server 2016 and talking to both 2016 and 2012 r2 servers. Problem now is that it won't see the local VMs on the 2016 box.

I did the -or ($OsVersion -like "10.0*") part as well.

this script is amazing. I added the outputted HTML file as a static file name and now I can pull it up on my daily dashboard I look at. Giant thanks to the author.
