  • What is the purpose of xAzure?

    • It makes total sense that these modules are a set of DSC resources, but what does that have to do with the "local machine" mentioned in the intro? I think of "local machine" as being whatever machine I'm logged into, but that does not seem applicable. Isn't this just about creating Azure VM's?

      From xAzure Documuntation.html:
"The xAzure module is a set of DSC resources that provide a method of depoying virtual machines in Microsoft Azure by applying a configuration to your local machine. This is primarily intended to enable testing how a new virtual machine can be used to evaluate a scenario or application without consuming resources from the local machine. "
    • When the configuration is applied, the LCM (Local Configuration Manager) takes action based on the properties specified. In xAzure, the cmdlets called in each resource are doing work to configure a service in Azure rather than the local operating system. The local machine is essentially acting as a proxy for delivering instructions to Azure.

    • Publish-AzureVMDscConfiguration seems to map nicely to the xAzureVMDSCConfiguration resource but which resource is the equivalent of Set-AzureVMDSCExtension? Or did I get this all wrong?
